Angela + Matt’s Wedding at Edgmont Country Club

Categories: Wedding

Anybody that knows me is aware of my deep respect for a photograph’s ability to convey meaning and emotion. A photo is a sliver of time captured and preserved for the ages. It can show love, sadness, joy, sorrow, and just about every other emotion we as a species can muster. It can be a window into the soul and a spotlight on all that is good (and bad) in our world. It’s this depth of meaning and permanence that drives me to do what I do.

However, sometimes photographs can fall a little short in capturing the true inner beauty of people. They can capture the external beauty and provide a glimpse into the soul, but when it comes to fully understanding a person, the medium is inherently limited (and that’s a good thing!). This is the problem I faced with Angela + Matt.

You see, no amount of photos (and I like to think mine are pretty good) can really show you what deeply wonderful people Angela + Matt are. There’s also a lack of adjectives in the English language that can really describe them. To put it simply – they rock, and I’m honored to know them.

Their wedding took place at Edgmont Country Club on a beautiful Saturday a couple weeks ago. It was a day befitting them as a couple.

Raina + Rafael’s Wedding at the Mansion at Voorhees

Categories: Wedding

I recently had the honor of photographing Raina + Rafael’s wedding at the Mansion at Voorhees. It was a beautiful day and incorporated a lot of traditional Indian ceremonies and rituals.

If you’ve never been to a traditional Indian wedding you’re in for a treat. In general they are amazingly colorful and opulent affairs steeped in centuries of tradition. The details are so beautiful they become almost overwhelming. They also tend to be huge events. Raina + Raf’s modest 200+ guest count is considered small (I’ve shot 500+ person Indian weddings).

The beautiful weather, great venue, wonderful details, and most importantly the fantastic people combined to make their day a truly memorable one.

Monique + Thomas: Riviera Maya, Mexico

Categories: Wedding

When I first met Monique + Thomas last year, it was apparent from the start that they were a special couple. They had booked me for their wedding in July at a venue near Harrisburg. After spending 5 minutes with them I knew that their wedding would be a memorable one. I just had no idea how memorable. A few months ago I received a frantic email from them. Their venue had double booked and they were scrambling to find a new place. They wanted to know if they could move their date as long as I was available, and knowing that this was not their fault I of course said yes. Weeks went by without me hearing anything. I was growing increasingly concerned, wondering what was happening. Then, I get an email from them asking if I would be open to shooting their wedding on a new date…in Mexico. My immediate answer was yes. They arranged the travel for me, and I started the work of planning for every possible contingency I might face. Destination weddings may appear to be a fairly simple thing, but the reality is that my job becomes exponentially harder because of the remoteness of the location. You are truly on your own, completely removed from the support network of colleagues and friends that you have at home. I take what I do extremely seriously, and that means that besides creating great images, I’m responsible for the safety and security of those images. That means that every step of the process – from transporting the equipment there to getting the images safely home – needs to have not just a plan A and B but also C and D. Fortunately, the entire trip went as smoothly as possible and I had the opportunity to work with some of the most genuine people I’ve ever met. Monique + Thomas and their guests treated me like family the entire time. It was an experience that I have a hard time verbalizing, and one that I will be eternally grateful for. Below are some of my favorite images, and yes, they really did trash the dress ;) Click here for the slideshow….
